Harmonica returns at Lingfield on Friday
22 March 2018
The homebred filly HARMONICA makes her seasonal reappearance on Friday in an apprentices' race at Lingfield, giving Sir Mark Prescott's apprentice, Gavin Ashton, the second ride of his career. Harmonica ran above expectations to finish placed in her three starts as a juvenile, which were all in August of last season. The daughter of Pivotal sprouted wings on debut over five furlongs at Nottingham, before finishing third at Lingfield (on turf) and runner-up at Kempton over a mile. Her first race of the season is also over a mile and she will be partnered by Heath House's latest apprentice, who impressed his employer when finishing second on his first ride in public, also at Lingfield, last December.
Harmonica's half-sister, Zest, has looked to lack resolve on turf, but has been a revelation on the all-weather this winter, having won twice and finished second in a Listed race. We hope Harmonica can continue her family's fine record at Lingfield on the all-weather and can give Gavin another good ride, as he also looks to gain experience. Good luck to them both on Friday.
