General Medrano continues progression
24 November 2023
On Monday 20 November, General Medrano ran another good race on his third start over fences when he finished second in the 1.40 at Plumpton, a Class 3 novices' handicap chase over 2m3f+.
Having won his first two chase starts, at Uttoxeter and Huntingdon (pictured above), General Medrano went to Plumpton as a progressive chaser, and though his winning run came to an end, he was possibly unlucky to bump into a useful-looking winner, Brave Kingdom. That horse had been off the track for nearly 700 days, but had won three of his previous four starts under Rules, and ridden from the front, got first run on General Medrano as the field turned into the home straight at Plumpton.
Although General Medrano's winning run came to an end at Plumpton, his trainer Emma Lavelle feels he may be better suited by a more galloping track and hopefully it won't be long before he regains the winning thread.
