Tribute Act runs at Deauville on Sunday
27 July 2018
On Sunday 29 July, Tribute Act is declared to run in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville in France. This will be Tribute Act's first run since she finished second in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot over a month ago. Going into the race, Tribute Act had a mountain to climb on official ratings, but she sprouted wings inside the final quarter of a mile to finish second to Aljazzi, who reopposes on Sunday. Although Aljazzi was an easy winner at the line, Tribute Act held off all challengers to finish second in the Group 2 feature for older fillies.
She must take on three year olds on Sunday, including With You, who has finished narrowly behind the British-trained Laurens in her last two Group 1 races. Her full-sister, We Are, has a connection with Tribute Act's family, as her half-sister, Ribbons, was denied by just a neck by We Are in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera on Arc day back in 2014. Earlier that season, Ribbons had won the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet, also at Deauville, to cement herself as a valuable breeding prospect.
It would be terrific if Tribute Act can be another daughter of the Club's former broodmare, Sister Act, to win at Normandy's premier racecourse, and in doing so, potentially book her place in the Club's Breeding Programme. Former Club broodmare, Sister Act, sadly died after foaling Tribute Act, so we hope Tribute Act can follow in her footsteps in time and continue this fabulous family.
