Top Tug running at Royal Ascot on Friday

Top Tug running at Royal Ascot on Friday

21 June 2017

Top Tug runs in Friday's Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap for the second time in his career. He comes to the race this season in the best form of his life, having finished second to subsequent Group 1-placed Frontiersman, first time out at Newmarket last month. Top Tug then went one better under the in-from Andrea Atzeni at Goodwood, before being freshened up for this race.

Alan King does particularly well with his Flat string and Top Tug is a good advertisement for his talents. Despite winning first time out over hurdles, Top Tug is a better horse on the level and he has done the Club proud so far this season. He failed to act on the soft ground at the meeting last year, but we hope the dry forecast will continue until the end of the Royal Meeting and the much-loved chestnut can provide the Club with another high-profile success.
