Tiffany wins on Group debut
01 July 2024
On her first start in Pattern race company, Elite Racing Club's Tiffany proved more than equal to the task when she won the Group 3 Hoppings Fillies' Stakes at Newcastle on Friday 28 June.
The four-year-old daughter of Farhh came to Newcastle on the back of winning two Listed races in Germany, either side of her winter break. So, although she was the joint-top-rated filly in the field at Newcastle's Gosforth Park racecourse, she was giving a 7lb weight-for-age concession to the Karl Burke-trained Darnation (also rated 109, like Tiffany), who won the German 1,000 Guineas earlier this season. However, the Luke Morris-ridden Tiffany shrugged aside the weight difference and made the race her own inside the last two furlongs, winning by a cosy two and a half lengths from Darnation.
This performance confirms Tiffany's progression from three to four years, and warrants the faith of her trainer Sir Mark Prescott, who had given her early entries in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes and Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks prior to running in the Hoppings Stakes. She has also been entered in the Group 3 Meadow Court Stakes (Fillies & Mares) at the Curragh on Sunday 21 July.
Tiffany should give Elite Racing Club members plenty of excitement this summer as she bids to become the Club's fourth Group 1 winner, following in the hoofsteps of Soviet Song, Ribbons and Marsha.
Congratulations to all Elite Racing Club members, Luke Morris and Sir Mark Prescott and the team at Heath House Stables for this latest success.
