Club hombred filly Viola showed promise on the third start of her career when a staying-on third in the fillies' handicap at Yarmouth on Saturday, 4 July.
Out of a dam who was a winner over 1m 6f, and is from the family of Camelot, the three-year-old Viola was always expected to show more over further than a mile. The fillies' novices stakes at Yarmouth was over 1m 2f and Viola kept on nicely to finish third in amongst promising types from Newmarket's major yards.
Viola's half-brother Mon Frere twice won over 1m 6f last season, and as she is now eligible for handicaps, hopefully it won't be long before Viola can add herself to the long list of the Club's homebred winners.
