Promising seasonal debuts for recent Club runners

Since racing's resumption in England on 1 June, the Club has had a number of runners making their first racecourse appearances in 2020, and all have shown promise for the season ahead.

Following Judicial's great effort to finish second in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at the Guineas meeting, his stablemate and fellow Club homebred, MAURICE DANCER, ran very well from a disadvantageous wide draw to finish a head-second in a 7f handicap at Wolverhampton last Friday. A winner over course and distance last season, Julie Camacho reports Maurice Dancer (pictured) has made physical progress over the winter, and hopefully this latest performance will provide the stepping stone to further wins.

Earlier in the week, VIOLA had shown improvement on only her second career start to date when fifth in a 1m 2f fillies' maiden at Yarmouth. This was her first race on good going, having made her racing debut in a heavy-ground 1m fillies' maiden at Doncaster at the backend of last season, and we expect her to come on for the experience and run.

On Sunday, SINCERITY ran a sound race to finish fifth in a 1m 4f handicap at Newmarket. The four-year-old homebred filly, who registered her first win last summer, showed well on this latest start until tiring in the closing stages and will hopefully build on this run in the coming months.

Like Sincerity, CANASTA is also trained by James Fanshawe, and has already won for the Club. The daughter of Charm Spirit was in contention a furlong from home in the 1m 2f handicap at Pontefract on Monday, but tired in the closing stages and finished an encouraging third. This was probably her best run on turf to date and there should be plenty of options for her this summer.

With these pleasing debuts in hand, and further members of the Club string yet to make their seasonal debuts this summer, the second half of 2020 could be a fruitful one for Elite Racing Club!
