Marsha storms to Nunthorpe win
31 August 2017
Marsha, Elite Racing Club's four-year-old home-bred filly, defied American superstar, Lady Aurelia, in a thrilling finish to the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Friday 25 August. Marsha, who bagged a Group 1 in France last year, was third to Lady Aurelia at Royal Ascot in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes, but she turned the tables at York after showing blistering speed in the final furlong.
Many Club Members were at York to support Marsha and this win marked the Club's eighth at the very highest level - a remarkable achievement. Marsha is now likely to head back to Chantilly in France on 1 October to defend her Prix de L'Abbaye crown.
Marsha is out of the Club's winning broodmare, Marlinka, and she is a half-sister to the useful Judicial, winning three-year-old Marseille, a filly foal by Dark Angel and a yearling filly by Iffraaj, who enters training this autumn.
