Group race entries for Elite Racing Club as racing resumes
01 June 2020
With the resumption of racing today, Elite Racing Club is delighted to have a number of entries in hand, including two in Group 3 sprints at this week's Guineas meeting at Newmarket.
Judicial became the Club's most prolific winner to date when recording his 14th career victory last year. Last season's campaign included two Listed wins for our evergreen sprinter, and hopefully he can add another Group race success to his CV this season, as he is set to return to action off a career-high rating of 109. Accordingly, he has been entered in the Group 3 Abernant Stakes at Newmarket this Friday, 5 June, and also the Group 3 Palace House Stakes the following day, a race in which he finished second two seasons ago, later winning the Group 3 Coral Charge Stakes (pictured) at Sandown.
Although Judicial is very much the leading light of the Elite Racing Club Flat string, we are delighted that another Club winner, Canasta, could also be returning to action soon. Trainer James Fanshawe has made an entry for her at Lingfield on Sunday, while her stablemate, Viola, is entered the same day on the turf at Haydock. A half-sister to Mon Frere, who won twice in Club colours as a three-year-old last summer, Viola ran an encouraging race on her debut at Doncaster at the end of last season and we hope she can build on that in 2020.
