Glorious Goodwood action for Elite Racing Club
07 August 2019
Over the years, Elite Racing Club has tasted success at most of the key meetings in the British Flat racing season, and with a number of talented horses among the Club's current string, the Club's famous white and black colours have been seen at a number of the top meetings this season, including at Glorious Goodwood last week.
Judicial, who recently became the Club's joint-most winning horse, with 12 wins, stepped up in class to contest the Group 2 King George Stakes on the Friday of the meeting.
Having had his chances compromised by rain at Newmarket's Guineas meeting and Royal Ascot, Judicial looked to have conditions to suit at Goodwood, but an exceptional performance from the top-class winner, Battaash, meant that the field was taken along at a searing pace, which just proved too hot for Judicial.
Despite this, Judicial actually ran one of the best races of his career, given the winner was rated 19lb his superior, and there will be easier opportunities for him looking forward.
The ground, which was on the quick side of good, didn't suit Elite Racing Club's useful staying handicapper Top Tug, who ran in a Class 2 handicap on the final day of the meeting. He will have a short break to freshen up for an autumn campaign.
