Elite Racing Club homebred Amalfi Bay chalked up the first win of his career when relishing the good to soft ground at Epsom's evening meeting on Thursday 8 July.
The Epsom race was the fifth career start for the three-year-old son of Lope De Vega, and his second over 1m4f. The step up in trip has clearly suited Amalfi Bay, who is out of Affinity, a Club winner over the same distance as a three-year-old, and is a Sadler's Wells half-sister to the Club's five-time Group 1 winner, Soviet Song. Affinity is one of the most useful mares in the Club's award-winning breeding programme; Amalfi Bay is her fourth individual winner from five foals to race to date.
Hopefully, with this win under his belt, longstanding Club trainer Roger Charlton will find another winning opportunity for Amalfi Bay in due course.
