The latest news from the Club
Bardd is declared to run in the first race at Chepstow on Sunday, where we hope he will demonstrate a more polished display of jumping compared to his hurdling debut last month. After winning a bumper at Sandown earlier in the season, Bardd finished fourth in his first race over obstacles when returning to the Esher track last month. Since then, Nicky Henderson has been putting Bardd through his paces over hurdles at homer, and he has seen a real improvement in him.
The Bathwick Tyres Maiden Hurdle looks an open race on paper, but we hope that Bardd is better than he showed at Sandown, when a few poor jumps down the back stretch cost him plenty of momentum. Conditions should be ideal for Bardd on Sunday, as softer ground is likely to suit him. We will all have our finger crossed he jumps better and comes back safely on Sunday.
