Another filly for Fanshawe
27 November 2020
Veteran Newmarket trainer James Fanshawe has an outstanding record with fillies, perhaps most notably his recent Breeders' Cup winner, Audarya, and Elite Racing Club's Group 1 winners of seasons past, Soviet Song and Ribbons. Given the number of homebred Club winners to have prospered in Fanshawe's beautiful Pegasus Stables over the years, it's entirely appropriate that he should have taken charge last week of the Club's homebred yearling filly by Oasis Dream out of Zest.
Zest was a prolific winner when trained by the Pegasus Stables team. As well as winning four races, she had a bit of class, as evidenced by her two places in Listed races. From the Club's highly successful breeding programme, she is out of a winning Sadler's Wells half-sister to Soviet Song.
The well-made Oasis Dream yearling filly is Zest's first foal and, according to her pedigree, looks capable of running later next season, with the scope to progress at three years and beyond; she looks just the sort of individual to benefit from the patient handling for which her trainer is renowned.
